The onset of winter in northern Germany has apparently led to the first match in the Bundesliga being called off. As the newspaper "Bild" reported, citing official sources, the match between FC St. Pauli and RB Leipzig scheduled for Saturday (3.30 pm) cannot take place. The reason for this is that both the paths to the Millerntor Stadium in Hamburg and the stands could not be sufficiently cleared of snow. In addition, there would have been a risk of snow and ice on the stadium roofs. FC St. Pauli and the German Football League initially refused to confirm the cancellation of the match.
