After RB Leipzig's highest away win in the Bundesliga and 19 points from the last seven games, Ole Werner was not surprised by this question. The 37-year-old coach was asked after the 6:0 (4:0) win at FC Augsburg whether the runners-up in the table now felt like Bayern hunters.
Werner grinned and replied: "We feel like RB Leipzig and we're happy that we're getting more and more of our soccer on the pitch and that it's leading to points. That's the most important thing for us."
The new RB coach is certainly not surprised that his new-look team has developed so positively so quickly since the heavy 6-0 defeat in the season opener in Munich against the German champions, who started the season with eight wins. "I'm not surprised that we're taking these steps. But we should still stick to our guns and not just judge games by the scoreboard," said Werner. The gap to Bayern is five points after eight matchdays.
