FC Erzgebirge cannot get out of the basement of the table. Points are needed against Ingolstadt, otherwise there will probably be personnel consequences.

Will Jens Härtel have to pack his bags as coach of third-division soccer club FC Erzgebirge Aue after less than a year in charge? The Saxon's match against FC Ingolstadt on Sunday (7.30pm/MagentaSport) could provide an answer. In any case, the newly elected board of FC Erzgebirge is not giving any guarantees on the important personnel issues.

In its regular meeting on Tuesday in the presence of sports managing director Matthias Heidrich, the sporting situation was discussed once again. The board then called the team and coaching team to account. "We analyzed the sporting development of the past year, in particular the past games with all their accompanying symptoms such as personnel worries, performance and match results. Only points count against Ingolstadt on Sunday, the only thing that matters at the moment is results in a difficult phase. We trust our team and the coaching team to do that," said president Thomas Schlesinger after the meeting.

First ten wins under Härtel

Härtel took over at Aue on January 2, 2025. In 35 matches, there have been ten wins, eight draws and 17 defeats. Alongside Härtel, criticism of Heidrich is also growing. Aue are 17th in the relegation zone after 16 matchdays, two points off the drop zone and three points ahead of their next opponents Ingolstadt.
