Saxony wants to promote climate-neutral and affordable housing in the state with six million euros. Housing companies, private developers, associations and homeowners' associations have until June 16 to apply for the "Signpost projects: climate-neutral and affordable living" call, as announced by the State Ministry for Regional Development in Dresden on Tuesday. "The transformation of the housing stock is an important building block for achieving climate targets," said Saxony's Regional Development Minister Thomas Schmidt (CDU). Making residential buildings fit for the future therefore requires creative ideas. "With the oldest housing stock in Germany and the highest density of listed buildings, Saxony faces a particular challenge." The focus of the funding is on construction measures that make a significant contribution to reducing CO2 emissions and that counteract the rising costs of building, renovating and operating housing. "With our new funding, we want to enable building owners to implement precisely those ideas that have the potential for wider application and provide important impetus for the entire industry," continued Schmidt. The funds for the funding are provided by the Free State on the basis of the budget approved by the members of the Saxon state parliament.
