Kretschmer considers Bas' apology appropriate

Saxony's Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU) considers an apology from Labour Minister Bärbel Bas (SPD) for her controversial comments at the Jusos national congress to be appropriate. "That is not possible. We are so dependent on sticking together in this country. An apology would be appropriate," he told the German Press Agency. Learning from history also means preventing a conflict between employers and employees, left and conservative, from arising in the first place. "Everyone has their responsibility."

Bas had reported on her appearance at the Employers' Day at the Jusos national congress at the end of November and said that it had become "particularly clear to her (...) who we actually have to fight against together". "There they were, I'll be frank, the gentlemen - yes, they were mostly men - sitting in their comfortable armchairs, one or the other in a tailored suit, and the rejection was clearly noticeable," Bas reported. "And this moment showed me once again where the lines really run in this country."
