Long Covid remains a challenge for many people in Saxony. Green politician Thomas Löser sees a "huge gap between announcements and implementation".

The Greens consider the care for Long Covid sufferers in Saxony to be inadequate. This assessment was made by MP Thomas Löser after evaluating a small question in the state parliament. There is still a "huge gap between announcements and actual implementation".

"There are currently only a few specialized services in Saxony - including a larger project at Dresden University Hospital and individual outpatient structures. The state government is not aware of any other systematic services," emphasized the MP. There can be no talk of anywhere near comprehensive care.

Greens criticize inadequate data

Löser also referred to an inadequate data situation. Current figures on those affected will not be collected until later this year. This means that there is still no essential basis for targeted planning and management of care. The government is clearly falling short of its own announcements. "Instead of concrete measures, we mainly see references, test orders and a lack of data."

Demand for financial security for long-term projects

"It is also completely unclear how existing projects are to be secured in the long term. Here, too, the state government is acting without direction: there is no information on the continuation of structures or follow-up financing," criticized the parliamentarian. Long Covid is not a marginal issue, but a permanent challenge for the healthcare system and the labor market.

According to Soler, Long Covid patients want to draw attention to their situation again this Saturday in Leipzig and Dresden with a "lying demonstration".
