The Federal President moves his official residence to Delitzsch for three days and meets citizens. On site, he talks about compulsory military service, change and what makes the region strong today.

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier plans to conduct his official business from Delitzsch in the district of North Saxony for three days in May. The visit is planned from May 20 to 22, the Office of the Federal President announced. The visit is part of his "Ortszeit Deutschland" series of visits, during which the head of state regularly travels to various regions to talk to citizens and learn about local developments.

The press release states that Delitzsch has overcome enormous challenges in recent decades and reinvented itself as a town and region. Today, the municipality benefits, among other things, from the economic dynamism in the northern Leipzig region and from the planned large-scale research center "Center for the Transformation of Chemistry", which is to be established as part of the Structural Strengthening Act for Coal Regions.

Planned events include political talks, a citizens' dialogue on compulsory military service, a visit to the new Elberitzbad swimming pool and an exchange with representatives of cooperatives. An award ceremony for committed citizens with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany is also on the agenda.
