The Saxon SPD parliamentary group wants to drive forward state modernization in the Free State. The deputy leader of the parliamentary group, Juliane Pfeil, said after a budget meeting of the Social Democrats that administrative staff would play a role in this. However, she did not mention cuts to teachers and the police.
When it comes to personnel development, there should be no lawnmower policy, said parliamentary group leader Henning Homann. "We need clear priorities here." Instead, the SPD wants to review how work can be better distributed with the help of artificial intelligence, for example.
Promise to reduce bureaucracy
The modernization of the state is also about the big promise to reduce bureaucracy, said Pfeil. There have been several commissions on this in recent years, the results and implementation of which will be discussed in the coming months.
As an example, Pfeil cited the Saxon budget regulations, according to which proof of the use of funding must be verified on the basis of random samples. However, the proportion for these random checks is 50 percent, criticized Pfeil. "This is bureaucracy in action, and we clearly need to get to grips with it." According to Homann, municipal road construction could serve as a model, where cities and municipalities can now make decisions without submitting additional applications to the Free State and receive a lump sum.
