Several homes in Saxony have been searched due to suspected support for plans to overthrow the terrorist organization "United Patriots". The investigations are directed against five men from Leipzig, Dresden, Görlitz and the Erzgebirge and Vogtland districts, according to the State Criminal Police Office (LKA). Storage media had been seized, but no arrests had been made.
A 47-year-old suspect is accused of active membership in the association, according to the LKA. A 57-year-old suspect is said to have been at least a supporter of the group. Three other suspects, aged 48, 54 and 77, are accused of being aware of the terrorist group's implementation plans but failing to report them to the security authorities.
Court verdicts in Koblenz
According to the investigating authorities, the group aims to trigger civil war-like conditions in Germany using violence and at least accepting fatalities in order to bring about the overthrow of the German government and parliamentary democracy. The Koblenz Higher Regional Court has already sentenced several members of the "United Patriots" to prison.
