A state association of the new AfD youth organization Generation Deutschland (GD) is to be founded in Saxony next year. Lennard Scharpe confirmed in response to an inquiry that this is planned for the first months of 2026. The Bautzen city councillor was elected financial representative at the founding meeting of Generation Germany in Giessen, Hesse, at the weekend. He explained that he would also like to run for the state chairmanship if the organization is founded in Saxony. The "Sächsische Zeitung" had previously reported on the plans.
Predecessor organizations right-wing extremist
The predecessor organization Junge Alternative had disbanded in the spring after the AfD had parted ways with it. The reason: as an independent association, the JA was only loosely connected to the AfD. As an association, the JA, which was classified by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution as proven right-wing extremist, also ran the risk of being banned.
Both the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution and the state office in Saxony had classified the Saxon JA as a proven right-wing extremist organization in 2023.
