The party leadership of the Saxon Left Party does not want to get involved in a "dirty war of the roses" with Bundestag member Sahra Wagenknecht. The Left remains "the right address for all those who care about justice and solidarity for all people living in the country, the peaceful resolution of conflicts, social climate protection and the determined fight against the extreme right," the chairwoman of the Left in Saxony announced on Monday.
Wagenknecht had announced on Monday that she would leave the Left and found her own party. "We look forward and put the focus on our work on the street and in the parliaments," the state chairmen Susanne Schaper and Stefan Hartmann announced in this regard. They said the split was inconsiderate of the more than 200 employees in the Bundestag faction and their families. In addition, they said, it was particularly irresponsible in a social situation that required a strong left all the more.
