Between the beginning of January and the end of March, 259 foreigners from Saxony who were required to leave the country were deported. According to a statement from the state directorate, this was 19 fewer than in the first quarter of 2024. Those affected, including 68 offenders, were returned to countries including Georgia, Croatia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia, Tunisia, France and Turkey.
Significantly more rejected asylum seekers left voluntarily
The number of voluntary departures more than doubled to 443 compared to the first quarter of 2024 with 198. The main destination countries this time were Turkey, Venezuela, Syria, Georgia and Russia.
Interior Minister Armin Schuster (CDU) spoke of "remarkable increases". This is also thanks to the intensive work and return advice provided by the local immigration authorities and the state directorate. "I welcome every case in which a finally rejected asylum seeker fulfills their obligation to leave the country on their own responsibility and no state deportation measures are necessary with the resulting difficulties for all sides."
