The people of Leipzig are to elect a new Lord Mayor on February 21, 2027. The administration has proposed this date to the city council for a vote. A possible second round of voting would take place one month later on March 21. The search is on for a successor to Burkhard Jung (SPD), who has been at the helm of Saxony's largest city since 2006.
