Playing the lottery in Saxony has become more expensive

Lottery players will have to dig deeper into their pockets for their bets with Sachsenlotto. As the state-owned company announced on request, the processing fee for all types of games has been increased. Each ticket will cost 20 cents more than before in a retail outlet. Online, the fee has risen by 10 cents. The increase came into force at the beginning of August.

The current prices for a single pick in a retail outlet:

- Lotto "6 aus 49": 2 euros (previously 1.80 euros)

- Eurojackpot: 2.80 euros (previously 2.60 euros)

- Glücksspirale: 5.80 euros for a whole ticket (previously 5.60 euros)

The current online prices for a single pick:

- Lotto "6 aus 49": 1.80 euros (previously 1.70 euros)

- Eurojackpot: 2.60 euros (previously 2.50 euros)

- Glücksspirale: 5.60 euros for a whole ticket (previously 5.50 euros)

Tippers pay stake plus processing fee

The prices are made up of the so-called stake per pick or ticket as well as the processing fee. The stakes for the "6 out of 49" lottery, Eurojackpot and Glücksspirale have remained unchanged. The processing fee has been increased. As it is charged per ticket and regardless of the number of picks submitted, the increase is more significant for a single Lotto or Eurojackpot pick than for a fully completed ticket.

Last increase three years ago

Sächsische Lotto-GmbH justified the increase in the processing fee with increased costs in many areas. The last increase was three years ago. "The adjustment of the processing fee is therefore an economically necessary step to ensure the technical operation, security, digitization and support of the approximately 1,210 sales outlets in Saxony," it said.

Different fees in the federal states

The lotteries are offered nationwide. However, players pay different prices in the individual federal states because the state lottery companies charge different fees. In addition, there are also so-called commercial lottery brokers such as Tipp24 or Clever Lotto, through which it is also possible to participate in state lotteries online. These brokers also have their own fee systems.
