Saxony's state capital Dresden can host the 2033 Federal Garden Show. The meeting of the German Federal Garden Show Society (DBG) voted unanimously in favor, as the city administration announced on Thursday. "I am proud that the intensive work of the past few months has paid off and that the state capital of Dresden can host the first Buga in Saxony," said Lord Mayor Dirk Hilbert (FDP) and thanked the city for its trust.
"We are delighted that Dresden will host the Federal Garden Show 2033," said DBG Managing Director Achim Schloemer. This will enable urban and regional development to be decisively advanced in the coming years. "Dresden has a lot of potential for a highly interesting, successful Federal Horticultural Show." Hajo Hinrichs, Chairman of the Shareholders' Meeting, added that the feasibility study with which the city had submitted its application offered exciting approaches to preserving ruins as places of remembrance. "There are promising core areas planned, and the concepts for long-term preservation also convince us."
