By early Thursday evening, the gale-force winds announced by the German Weather Service (DWD) had not yet had any impact in the Upper Harz region. This was confirmed by the Harz integrated control center. There is a risk of extreme gale-force winds in the Upper Harz until Friday night. The DWD had previously announced the highest storm warning (level four). Among other things, there is a great danger to life and limb from falling trees. The storm warning applies to locations above 1000 meters. From Thursday afternoon to Friday afternoon, the warning level three of four also applies on the Brocken due to gale-force winds.
