A dangerous predator could be roaming the woods around Lake Geiseltal in Saxony-Anhalt. The authorities believe there is an 80 percent probability that it is a cougar. But how should people behave if they encounter the predator?
The Saale district office has called on the public not to approach the animal under any circumstances. People should not look the animal in the eye, but instead look at its body and back away slowly, making themselves large. However, it would be better not to stay in the area around the Geiseltalsee and to keep dogs on a lead.
