From this Monday, anyone wishing to purchase a photovoltaic or geothermal system or a storage system can apply for repayment subsidies for loans. A total of around 13.6 million euros is available for this under the Renewable Energies and Storage funding guideline, as announced by the Ministry of Energy on Sunday. The funding program offers loans for investments from 35,000 euros and up to five million euros. These can be supported with repayment subsidies of up to 10 percent in principle and up to 20 percent for electricity storage systems.

Energy Minister Wolfram Günther (Greens) spoke of a further milestone for the energy transition in Saxony, according to the press release. "With the loans and repayment subsidies for renewable energy systems and storage facilities, we will initiate a further significant expansion of renewable energies in Saxony," he said.

The construction or expansion of photovoltaic systems with an installed gross output of more than 30 kilowatt peak on buildings or open parking spaces, decentralized electricity storage systems, electrically powered geothermal heat pumps and heat or cold storage systems will be supported. According to the announcement, applications should generally be submitted to the associated house banks. Municipalities and housing companies are among those applying for funding from the Sächsische Aufbaubank.
