The railroad is replacing bearings on two bridges on a high-speed line in Thuringia. This has consequences for passengers, for example between Leipzig and Munich.

Due to bridge construction work in Thuringia, rail customers will have to put up with longer journey times and reduced long-distance services from the end of June to mid-July. Trains between Leipzig/Halle and Erfurt will be rerouted from June 26 to July 12, as announced by Deutsche Bahn.

In order to improve the availability of the line and reduce future maintenance costs, the bearings of the railroad bridges at Großmölsen and Hardisleben-Buttstädt (both in Thuringia) will be replaced with bearings of a different design. The line will have to be closed for the upgrade.

Trains between Erfurt and Leipzig will use a different route during the specified period, meaning that there will be no stops. According to Deutsche Bahn, the journey between Leipzig and Munich will take up to 60 minutes longer.

Trains between Leipzig and Erfurt will take around 20 minutes longer. Connections will also be lost, such as the direct connections between Frankfurt/Main and Halle (Saale).

The DB asks all travelers to check the digital travel information media or the DB Navigator app before starting their journey.
