The Free State of Saxony will continue to support volunteers with a lump-sum expense allowance in the coming years. According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, the government’s draft for the 2027–2028 biennial budget once again allocates approximately 11 million euros per year to the “Wir für Sachsen” funding program. According to the information provided, project organizers such as churches, associations, and municipalities can submit applications for the coming year until October 31. Applications must be submitted exclusively online via the funding portal of the Dresden Community Foundation. According to the ministry, the 40-euro expense allowance is intended to help cover incidental expenses such as travel costs or office supplies. Funding is available for people who volunteer at least 20 hours a month in the areas of social services, the environment, culture, music, and sports.
