There have been several accidents involving a total of nine vehicles on the Autobahn 72 between the Chemnitz-Süd and Stollberg Nord junctions. According to the police, three people were injured in the accidents on Friday afternoon, two of them seriously.
In all three accidents, vehicles reportedly collided with the vehicles in front of them in slow-moving traffic. A 39-year-old driver was slightly injured, while his two passengers were seriously injured. One of the accidents also resulted in a hit-and-run, the police said.
The total damage is estimated at around 72,000 euros. The road was partially closed for around two hours.
