Biofuel producer Verbio aims to continue growing following a strong fiscal year. CEO Claus Sauter intends to further increase profits in the current fiscal year, as the company announced Thursday in Frankfurt. Accordingly, the goal is to achieve earnings before taxes of up to 250 million euros by the end of June of next year. At the same time, the group’s debt is expected to decrease significantly. Higher contributions from the bioethanol and biomethane businesses are expected to play a key role in achieving this. Verbio is headquartered in Leipzig. The company produces bioethanol and biodiesel from biomass at its facilities in Zörbig and Bitterfeld in Saxony-Anhalt, as well as in Schwedt and Pinnow in Brandenburg. The company operates additional sites in Hungary, the U.S., Canada, and Asia. In fiscal year 2025/26, the Group benefited from sharply rising prices at the gas pumps in the wake of the war in Iran. According to final calculations, operating income rose to just under 194 million euros—more than thirteen times the previous year’s figure. Revenue rose by nearly one-fifth to 1.87 billion euros. All told, Verbio earned 64 million euros, following a loss of nearly 138 million the previous year. At that time, falling fuel prices had taken a heavy toll on the Leipzig-based company. After a year without a dividend, shareholders are now set to receive a dividend of 20 cents per share again. On Thursday, the stock was down slightly more than two percent in pre-market trading on the Tradegate platform. On Wednesday, the share price had risen by just under five percent.
