Saxony's Transport Minister Martin Dulig has welcomed the commitment to the Deutschlandticket. This is an important signal of reliability for users, the SPD politician announced on Tuesday. "We, the federal government and the federal states, will work together on a solution from 2025 - one that reflects the actual costs but does not jeopardize the attractiveness of the Deutschlandticket."
The transport ministers of the federal states decided at a special conference on Monday that the price of 49 euros per month for the Deutschlandticket should remain stable for the whole of 2024. The Deutschlandticket, which was introduced in May 2023, is valid for nationwide journeys on local and regional public transport and is currently used by around ten million people, according to the Association of German Transport Companies. According to Dulig, more than 410,000 people in Saxony are currently traveling with the Deutschlandticket, and demand continues to rise.
