The mood in Saxony's metal and electrical industry remains poor. According to the employers' association Sachsenmetall, the urgently needed upturn through reliable economic conditions is still not in sight under the new federal government. As a result, more than 8,000 jobs have been lost over the past two years.
"No industrialized country is growing more slowly than Germany. Our economic output has been stagnating since 2019 and has even been shrinking since the end of 2022," emphasized Sachsenmetall President Jörg Brückner. The production capacities of industrial companies in Saxony are massively underutilized. This currently stands at around 76 percent. "A capacity utilization of 85 percent is normal. The reduction in employment can only be stopped above this level."
