More presence: the police, the city and the railroad are now patrolling Leipzig's main station together. What's the point?

The police, the city and Deutsche Bahn want to ensure greater security at Leipzig Central Station with joint patrols. The so-called Quattro patrols consist of officers from the federal and state police as well as employees from the city security service and DB Sicherheit. The teams of four will now go on joint patrols in and around the main station, as announced by Deutsche Bahn.

"We want passengers and travelers to feel comfortable and safe in and around Leipzig Central Station. We want to meet this requirement with the visible presence of more security staff," explained station manager Christian Schulz. The joint patrols could overcome jurisdictional boundaries.

According to the Federal Police, 859 violent crimes were recorded at Leipzig Central Station last year - the most in Germany. Deutsche Bahn has launched an immediate program for more security and cleanliness. As part of the program, Deutsche Bahn intends to deploy more security staff at 35 heavily used stations. This includes Leipzig Central Station.
