A short circuit caused a power outage lasting several hours in the Mittweida region (Mittelsachsen district) during the night. 2,800 grid connections in the region were cut off shortly before midnight, as the responsible grid company envia Mitteldeutsche Energie AG (enviaM) announced on request. By switching to other lines, all customers have been back on the grid since shortly after 5.00 am.
According to enviaM, the cause of the short circuit is still being investigated. According to the police, the fire department was also deployed. Repair work is currently ongoing.
