The pipe system for the new district heating connection from Leuna to Leipzig comes from Thuringia. Isoplus Fernwärmetechnik in Sondershausen has announced that it will supply the pipes, bends and joints for the entire route. Around 8000 components will be manufactured at the Sondershausen plant and delivered ready for installation.
The 19-kilometer route is scheduled to go into operation in 2028. The project by Stadtwerke Leipzig and Total Raffinerie aims to use previously unused waste heat from production processes at the Leuna Chemical Park to supply Leipzig with district heating. Around 100,000 households are to be supplied with heat in this way.
