The European Union's free trade agreement with India opens up opportunities for growth in Saxony, according to Economics Minister Dirk Panter. According to the SPD politician, the main beneficiaries could be the automotive and supplier industry, mechanical engineering and the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. The agreement was a strong signal, "especially in times when previous partners are trying to destroy existing trade structures with tariffs".
Panter himself traveled to India last November for economic talks. He had experienced there "how great the interest in Saxon technologies, investments and cooperation is". The partnership also strengthens Saxony's chances of attracting international specialists.
The background to this is the conclusion of negotiations between the EU and India on a free trade agreement. The aim is to boost the exchange of goods and services between the two economic areas by reducing trade barriers and customs duties.
