An 18-year-old motorcyclist crashed while fleeing a police checkpoint near Werdau in western Saxony. He sustained injuries as a result, according to the Zwickau police department. Officers had noticed late on Saturday evening that there was no license plate on the motorcycle, it said. Despite signs to stop, blue lights and a siren, the man continued his journey at excessive speed. In a left-hand bend, he left the road and crashed.
During the check, it turned out that the cross bike was registered, but the license plate had not yet been affixed. However, the 18-year-old had the necessary papers. He now faces charges of driving without a license and illegal vehicle racing.
