Employees in Saxony can afford to earn more. The average real wage rose by 2.2 percent from April to the end of June compared to the same period last year, according to the State Statistical Office.
The inflation-adjusted wage increase was the result of nominal wages rising by 4.7 percent, which was once again higher than the 2.4 percent increase in consumer prices. According to statisticians, this means that the trend of rising real wages in Saxony has continued since the second quarter of 2023.
2024 with strongest growth in years
Statisticians have already recorded a significant increase in real wages over the past year as a whole: Income less inflation rose by an average of three percent compared to the previous year. The last time there was a comparable real wage increase was in 2014.
In addition to wage increases, the tax-free inflation compensation premium also played a role in this development. This expired at the end of 2024, according to the statisticians. However, it could still have an impact on the statistics.
