Saxony's Minister of Economic Affairs Dirk Panter is traveling to Taiwan for investor talks with representatives of the semiconductor industry. In Taiwan's capital Taipei, the SPD politician will visit the semiconductor giant Foxconn, among others, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The company manufactures devices for the Apple Group, among others. Panter will also open the "German Pavilion" at the semiconductor trade fair Semicon, which begins on Monday, and talk about investment opportunities in Saxony at a networking dinner with Taiwanese companies.
Panter is hoping for a tailwind from the arrival of chip giant
Companies from Saxony will also be represented at the trade fair. Panter is hoping that the arrival of Taiwanese chip giant TSMC in Dresden will provide a tailwind for further investment talks. The relocation project is currently Germany's largest construction site. "Semicon Taiwan is the perfect stage to underline Saxony's role as the leading semiconductor location in Europe and the associated business opportunities," said Panter.
The Semicon trade fair is being held for the 30th time this year. According to the organizers, 1,200 companies from 56 countries will be represented in Taiwan's capital. International delegations from the USA, Chile, Italy and Spain are also expected to attend. This year's focus is on powerful AI chips and processors.
