A driver did not survive a daring overtaking maneuver on the B 169 federal road in Naundorf in the district of North Saxony on Saturday morning. According to the police, the man overtook another vehicle in a bend without permission and collided with an oncoming car. He succumbed to his serious injuries at the scene of the accident. The other 45-year-old car driver was taken to hospital with injuries.
Police ask driver of overtaken car for assistance
Multiple fire departments, emergency services and an expert were deployed, resulting in property damage of around 35,000 euros. The main road was still closed at midday. The police are investigating the circumstances of the accident and are asking for witnesses to come forward, in particular the person at the wheel of the vehicle that was overtaken.
