After the repair of a damaged overhead line, the ICE high-speed line between Erfurt and Leipzig/Halle is open again. Since around 10.20 a.m., the two-track connection can be used again, a Deutsche Bahn spokeswoman said on request. Traffic is now expected to return to normal quickly.
There had been delays and some trains were canceled. Due to the damage in the Saubach Valley area, the line had only been available on one track in alternating operation since the previous day. This caused delays of up to 20 minutes in both directions.
According to the railroad, up to 500 meters of the overhead line were hanging down at times. The cause of the damage is still unclear. The railroad had asked travelers to check their connection shortly before departure.
