Following the drone incident at Leipzig/Halle Airport, Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) has invited his colleagues to a meeting. The ministry confirmed this. The newspaper “Bild” had previously reported on this.

According to the report, ministers from Eastern European EU member states and countries bordering the Baltic Sea are expected to attend the meeting at the Mürwik Naval Academy in Flensburg at the end of August. This would include ministers from the Baltic states, Poland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark.

According to the ministry, the goal of the discussions is to coordinate a joint defense strategy against unmanned aerial systems and to strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure.
