A 20-year-old female driver has been seriously injured in an accident on the A72 near Weischlitz. The woman left the lane on Monday evening for reasons as yet unknown and hit the right-hand crash barrier, a police spokesperson said on Tuesday morning. According to the information provided, her car then skidded and came to a halt 200 meters further on in the left-hand lane. The 20-year-old was seriously injured and taken to hospital. According to the spokesperson, it is suspected that she was under the influence of strong medication.
The woman's car was no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away. Two other cars were damaged because they drove into the wreckage of the accident, according to reports. The total damage reportedly amounted to 29,500 euros. The highway was fully closed for two hours between the Hochfranken junction and the Pirk junction in the direction of Leipzig. A 400-metre-long oil slick had to be removed.
