A 36-year-old driver has died in an accident on highway 14 on the border between Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony. According to the Leipzig police department on Saturday, the man was driving towards Dresden on Friday evening when he overtook a truck after the Gröbers junction in the direction of Dresden and lost control of his car as he swerved into the lane.

The car reportedly left the road, drove through a deer fence, grazed a group of trees and then collided with other trees below an embankment. There it came to rest on the passenger side. The driver died at the scene of the accident and his 21-year-old passenger was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The police estimated the property damage at 50,000 euros.
