After more than 90 years, production at Doering Glass in Radeburg is coming to an end. There is still hope for another site in Berlin.

The company Doering Glass is closing its Radeburg plant with 120 employees at the end of November. According to a press release, the glass manufacturer was unable to find an investor during court restructuring proceedings. "Despite several interested parties, it was not possible to reach an agreement with any of the potential buyers," reported Managing Director Swen Graf.

The employees affected have therefore received their redundancy notices. With the support of the restructuring team, many employees have already received new offers or new jobs at companies in the region. In the weeks leading up to the closure of the plant, the order backlog is to be processed and the company is also still accepting new orders. Production is scheduled to end at the end of October.

The manufacturer of flat and insulating glass had fallen into crisis due to the economic situation in recent years, particularly as a result of the war in Ukraine, energy price trends and supply chain problems. The company's roots go back to 1933. In addition to the site in Radeburg, the company also has a plant in Berlin with around 50 employees, for which the investor process is still ongoing. The parties involved are confident that a solution will be found in the foreseeable future.
