Because of a possible danger from glass foreign bodies in individual jars, the organic retailer Alnatura has recalled a batch of chickpeas in jars. Specifically, the recall involves Alnatura chickpeas in a jar 330 g with the batch number/lot number L0322/14 with a best-before date of Dec. 31, 2026, the company said Thursday. It could not be ruled out that glass foreign bodies were in individual jars of the said batch.
All glasses with the affected batch had already been taken from the sale as a precaution. Customers, who had the product with the batch number mentioned at home, asked the company not to consume this and to return, they received replacement. It is intensively examined how the glass could get into the product, in order to be able to exclude such an incident in the future even more reliably.
Affected by the recall are the states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen, Hamburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein.
