Five people suffered minor injuries in an accident on the Autobahn 4 near Burkau on Wednesday evening. Four vehicles were involved in the crash in the direction of Görlitz, according to the police.
The highway maintenance department had closed one lane at the scene for cleaning purposes. This caused a tailback to form. It was reported that a 68-year-old driver had overlooked it while overtaking. His car hit a car in the left-hand lane at the end of the traffic jam.
The impact caused the vehicle involved in the accident to be thrown into the right-hand lane, where it hit a truck. A fourth vehicle then hit the accident from behind. The police estimated the damage at 100,000 euros. There were initially no further details about the course of the accident.
