A nine-year-old girl was seriously injured in an accident in Ehrenfriedesdorf (Erzgebirgskreis) while walking a dog. According to the Chemnitz police department, the child was walking the dog on a footpath on Friday afternoon. The animal suddenly pulled the girl onto the road, where she was hit head-on by a car. The 54-year-old driver tried to avoid the car, but was unable to bring it to a halt in time, it said. The girl was taken to hospital.
