Work on the A4 tunnel has been going on for almost two years, and drivers now have to prepare themselves for restrictions one last time.

The A4 Königshainer Berge tunnel in the direction of Dresden will be closed for four days due to reconstruction work following extensive refurbishment. Traffic will be diverted between the Kodersdorf and Nieder Seifersdorf junctions from Tuesday, 7 a.m. to Friday, 10 p.m., as announced by Autobahn GmbH. This is the last closure as part of the construction work. The remains of the construction site will now be dismantled.

The renovation of the freeway tunnel began in March 2024. In order to meet the increased safety requirements since its completion in 1999 and to bring the tunnel up to the latest state of the art, new emergency call cabins and more sensors for early fire detection were installed, among other things. The south tunnel in the direction of Dresden was opened in December.
