A4 Königshainer Berge tunnel closed until the evening

The A4 Königshainer Berge tunnel is fully closed in both directions until the evening. The reason for this is an operational exercise involving numerous aid organizations, as announced by Autobahn GmbH des Bundes. The aim is to train cooperation and coordination processes under realistic conditions.

Extensive renovation work has been carried out in the Königshainer Berge tunnel near Görlitz since March 2024. Traffic runs in one lane in both directions through one tunnel tube while the work takes place in the other tunnel tube. Upon completion of the measures,
the tunnel is to be put back into regular operation.

As the operator of the tunnel, it is obliged to rehearse the emergency with all those involved in a realistic manner before reopening in two-lane regular operation,
