A 19-year-old man has been seriously injured in an accident on the Autobahn 72 south of Leipzig. According to the police, the young man drove his car into a roadworks barrier shortly after Rötha for reasons as yet unexplained.
The car hit several warning beacons on Tuesday evening and then veered off the road to the right. The car rolled over several times on the embankment and finally came to rest on its roof. According to the police, the 19-year-old had to be rescued from the car.
One of the warning markers was thrown into oncoming traffic as a result of the crash and damaged a passing car. There were no other injuries. The A72 was closed in the direction of Leipzig until the early morning. The police are now investigating how exactly the accident occurred.
