On Architecture Day, visitors in Saxony can tour school buildings, factory halls, and historic buildings. Here's what's on the program.

This weekend, as part of Architecture Day, visitors can explore around 60 buildings in Saxony. The buildings are not only open to the public, but some will also offer guided tours and lectures, according to the Saxony Chamber of Architects. This year’s theme is “Sustainable Building. Shaping the Future.”

Which buildings can be visited?

The range extends from various school buildings in Leipzig, Dresden, and Chemnitz to historic factory halls such as the former Baldau Factory in Marienberg and the Schönherr Factory in Chemnitz.

In Leipzig’s Kolonadenviertel district, the focus is on East German modernism. In Elbisbach in the Leipzig region, visitors can see how a historic half-timbered house was revitalized. More than 30 of the open sites are designated cultural monuments.
