Light show meets vision: the "Light Our Vision" festival not only illuminates well-known architecture in Chemnitz, but also provides impetus for further urban development. What visitors can expect.

The light art festival "Light Our Vision" invites you to rediscover striking buildings and squares in Chemnitz, artfully illuminated, until Saturday (September 27). These include the Red Tower, the Karl Marx Monument, the Opera House and the Schillerpark.

The Baukultur für Chemnitz association also wants to provide impetus for further urban development. "Our vision of a Chemnitz in 20 years' time is to create a new flair in the city," says association director Lotte Claudia Fischer.

Tens of thousands of visitors expected

The focus is particularly on the area behind the office complex at the Marx Monument, which is popularly known as the "Parteifalte". The inner city area has so far been used as a parking lot. However, there are plans to develop it into a sports and cultural quarter, including a new venue for the Bundesliga basketball club Niners Chemnitz.

This year marks the third edition of the Light Art Festival. According to the organizers, it attracted around 75,000 visitors last year. The shows can be experienced from 7.30 pm to 11.00 pm.
