The Leipzig Opera has not yet been successful in its search for a new artistic director from summer 2027. The city announced that no suitable person had been found in an initial process. A new process is therefore now being prepared. The current artistic director, Tobias Wolff, will move to the Staatstheater Braunschweig in summer 2026.
The administrative director and the general music director are currently working closely with the city's cultural mayor to develop an interim solution from summer 2026. This is to be presented to the city council for approval at its June meeting.
