To mark International Museum Day, many museums in Saxony are holding special events this Sunday. For example, a tour of Königstein Fortress will offer insights into the otherwise closed Georgenburg Castle. Scenes from the castle's history can be experienced in the rooms of the baroque castle in Delitzsch and there will be cannon thunder in the Voigtsberg Castle museums in Oelsnitz - historical cannons will be presented and fired. According to the State Office for Museums, there will be more than 200 activities in around 100 museums at more than 60 locations on Museum Day.

The state-wide opening will be celebrated in Crimmitschau. In the local textile museum Tuchfabrik Gebr. Pfau, a new permanent exhibition will be opened to visitors with a celebration. Covering around 400 square meters, the exhibition focuses on textile production techniques as well as topics such as fashion in the GDR, the struggle for better working conditions and the textile industry today. The museum is known for its originally preserved and largely functional machinery, which can be viewed on guided tours.
