The first trees are to be planted in Dresden's Great Garden next month as part of a strategy to combat the effects of climate change. As announced by Schlösserland Sachsen on Thursday in Dresden, the background and objectives of the campaign will also be explained at the event on June 13. The Staatliche Schlösser, Burgen und Gärten Sachsen gGmbH (SBG) is currently building a tree nursery in the Great Garden as part of the "Climate Change in Historic Gardens" project.
The tree nursery is to be built at the historic site near the Palaisteich pond. Back in 1874, garden director Friedrich Bouché had a park-owned tree nursery set up there, which was operated as such until the Second World War. The tree nursery is intended to help make the Great Garden fit for the challenges of climate change.
