The international children's film festival "Schlingel" in Chemnitz will be presenting more than 200 films over the next few days. A number of filmmakers will also be coming to the city. For example, the animated film "The Last Whale Singer" will celebrate its premiere at the festival on Sunday in the presence of director Reza Memari and producer Maite Woköck, as the organizers announced.
The film is one of nine films that will be shown publicly for the first time at "Schlingel". It also includes the Canadian film "My Stepmother is a Witch", the German production "A Summer in Sommerby" and the Danish film "Children of the Silver Road - Strong Together!".
141 productions in competition
The festival opens on Saturday evening at the Chemnitz Opera House. Productions from 58 countries will be shown until October 4, including Canada, Australia, Norway, Kyrgyzstan, Costa Rica and Taiwan. There are 141 productions competing for the various prizes: 61 feature-length films and 80 short films.
