This year, the Oberlausitz Chamber Music Festival once again aims to transform historical locations in the region into concert halls. Whether churches, castles or manor houses - from Friday, the monuments are to become the stage for musical masterpieces for a week, the organizer formulated his claim. The opening concert in the church in Baruth will be performed by the Dresdner Kapellsolisten with harpist Serafina Jaffé and conductor Helmut Branny. The program includes works by Mozart, Handel, Vivaldi and Telemann.
Renowned performers as guests
Director Hagen W. Lippe-Weißenfeld focuses on musical diversity. On the second day of the festival, big band sounds mingle with classical chamber music. In Gröditz Castle Park, the "Klangfarben" ensemble from Jonsdorf will perform free of charge with girls and boys from music schools in the region. One of the highlights is a performance by the Scharoun Ensemble of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra to kick off a "Long Night of Music" on August 22. Other guests include the Thüringer Bach Collegium, the Ensemble Polyharmonique and the Batzdorfer Hofkapelle.
Moritzburg Festival Orchestra makes a guest appearance
The Moritzburg Festival Orchestra with its conductor Josep Caballé Domenech will be making a detour to Upper Lusatia and can be experienced in the church in Ebersbach on August 20. "We are delighted that we have once again succeeded in presenting a varied, top-class festival program. On the one hand, it allows us to reunite with well-known artists who have shaped our festival from the very beginning. On the other hand, we have the honor of welcoming great stars for the first time," emphasized Artistic Director Lippe-Weißenfeld.
